Motorized shade remote programming

1. Your remote at a glance

Two handsets ship with our motorized shades. Both use the same three main buttons. The difference is how many channels they hold.

The buttons

• Up raises the shade.
• Stop halts it, and doubles as the confirm button in most programming steps.
• Down lowers the shade.
• Channel arrows pick which shade or group you are talking to.
• P Setting button sits behind the battery cover on the back of the remote, marked SETTING (P).

2. Wake the motor

Every battery motor leaves the supplier in sleep mode so it cannot run during shipping. Yours was woken at installation. You would only need this after a factory reset, or if you deliberately put a motor to sleep.

Waking it up

Make sure the shade is properly installed and secured in its mounting hardware first.

1. Press and hold the programming button on the motor head until the motor jogs once, then release. The motor is now active and ready to configure.

Putting it back to sleep

1. Press and hold the programming button on the motor head for about 10 seconds. Once the motor jogs three times, release. It is now asleep.

3. Adjust the limits

The limits are the top and bottom stopping points. Changing one does not affect the other, so you can redo just the end that bothers you.

Upper limit

1. Press + together and hold for 5 seconds. This unlocks limit setting.

2. Move the shade to the position you want as the new upper limit.
3. Press + together for 2 seconds to save it.

Lower limit

1. Press + together and hold for 5 seconds.

2. Move the shade to the position you want as the new lower limit.
3. Press + together for 2 seconds to save it.

4. Favorite position

A favorite is a custom stopping point somewhere between the upper and lower limits, recalled with one long press. Each motor holds one favorite.

Save a favorite

1. Use or to move the shade to the position you want to save.
2. Press P on the back of the remote for 1 second.

Go to the favorite

Press and hold for 2 seconds. The shade travels to the saved position and stops there.

Delete the favorite

1. With the shade stopped, press P for 1 second.

5. Pair a remote to a motor

Step one: pick the channel

1. Press any button to wake the remote.
2. Within 10 seconds, press or to select the channel you want.

Step two: pair to the motor

1. Press and hold the programming button on the motor head for 2 seconds to put the motor into pairing mode.

2. Within 10 seconds of that jog, press and hold on the remote for 2 seconds. The same action adds a remote or removes one.

6. Copy settings to a new remote

Mirroring hands an existing channel's settings to a second handset, so you can keep one upstairs and one down without pairing everything twice.

1. On the existing remote, press P for 1 second.

3. On the new remote, press P for 1 second. The same sequence removes a remote you no longer want paired.

7. Control several shades at once

Grouping puts several motors on one channel so a single press moves them together. On the 15-channel remote, channel 0 already controls every paired motor at once by default.

Step one: pick the group channel

1. Press any button to wake the remote.
2. Within 10 seconds, press or to select the channel that will hold the group.

Step two: add each motor to that channel

1. Press and hold the programming button on the motor head for 2 seconds.

2. Within 10 seconds, press and hold for 2 seconds. Repeat both steps for every motor you want in the group. The same sequence removes one.

Step three: line up the limits

Shades on one channel should stop in the same places, otherwise the group looks uneven. To adjust one shade's limits without the others copying it, put the rest to sleep first.

1. On each of the other motors on that channel, hold the programming button until it jogs three times. That motor is now asleep and will ignore the remote.

2. Set the upper and lower limits on the remaining shade using the limit steps above.
3. Wake each sleeping motor again with a short hold of its programming button.

8. Hide or unhide channels

If you only use four of the fifteen channels, hiding the rest means you stop scrolling past empty ones. This is on the 15-channel remote only.

1. Hold + together for 2 seconds.

9. Change the motor speed

1. Slide off the battery cover on the back of the remote and press the left P button.

2. Press to speed the motor up, or to slow it down. Press again to keep stepping through the speeds.

10. Reverse the direction

If up sends the shade down, the motor is wired the opposite way round to the buttons. There are two ways to flip it.

1. Slide off the battery cover and press the P setting button.

Before the limits are set

1. Briefly press or to check which way the shade travels, then press to pause it.
2. If the travel does not match the buttons, press and hold + together until the motor jogs once in each direction.

11. Tilt mode

Tilt mode moves the shade in one inch steps per press instead of running continuously, which is handy for fine positioning. The limits must already be set.

1. With the remote unlocked, hold + together for around 5 seconds.

2. After that jog, press . One more jog confirms you are in tilt mode.

12. Recharge the battery

The motor charges over USB-C. The cable plugs into the motor head at the end of the shade tube.

• Red LED flashing. Battery is low and should be charged soon.
• Green LED flashing. Charging is in progress.
• Solid green LED. Fully charged.

13. Set up a motor from scratch

You would only do this after a factory reset. The order matters, because limits cannot be set until the remote is talking to the motor.

1. Select a channel. Wake the remote, then within 10 seconds use or to choose one.
2. Pair the remote to the motor. Hold the motor head programming button for 2 seconds, then within 10 seconds hold for 2 seconds. See pairing.

3. Check the direction and flip it if up sends the shade down. See reverse the direction.
4. Set the upper limit. Move the shade to where you want it to stop at the top, then press + for 2 seconds.

14. Factory reset

A reset clears every pairing and both limits, putting the motor back to how it left the supplier. It is a last resort, and you will need to run the setup steps afterwards.

1. Find the P1 button on the motor head and press and hold it for 14 seconds, keeping it pressed the whole time, until the motor jogs four times. A red LED confirms the reset worked.

15. Motor button hold times

The P1 button on the motor head does four different jobs depending on how long you hold it. Count the jogs to know where you landed.

17. Safety and care

• Always follow the installation instructions supplied with the product.
• Suitable for use by children aged 8 and above, and by individuals with certain disabilities, but only under supervision and only where they understand the risks. Children must not play with the device or perform cleaning and maintenance.
• Keep fixed controls and remote controls out of children's reach.
• Inspect the installation periodically for imbalance, wear or damage, especially cables and springs. If something is wrong, stop using it until it is repaired.
• Disconnect the device from power during cleaning, maintenance or part replacement, and turn it off when working nearby, such as cleaning windows.
• The drive does not exceed 70dB(A).
• Designed for indoor and domestic use only.
• When using a biased switch, keep others at a safe distance.
• Only use the tube motor with the safety extra-low voltage specified on the product label.
• The device contains non-replaceable batteries. Handle with care.

Cleaning

• Use a soft, lint-free cloth, slightly damp.
• Do not let moisture get into any opening.
• No aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol or abrasives.

Service and support

Do not attempt repairs or open the device. There are no user-serviceable parts inside, and opening it risks electric shock and may void the warranty. Warranty work on shades we installed is handled by the same crew that fitted them, so call us rather than taking anything apart.
